Vitiligo treatments with Chinese herbs
Vitiligo is a skin condition characterized by white spots (hence its other name, Leukoderma; leuko = white; derma = skin). These stamps are the lack of skin pigment melanin, in most cases, the condition is triggered by sunburn. Normally, excessive sun exposure leading causes redness of the skin, followed by peeling the outer skin layers, and the formation of darker skin in the exposed area ( "weathered" skin). However, in some cases, a reaction that occurs in the production of melanin is blocked and the skin loses its color. The white spots are usually on the site of the burn, but it is also possible for additional patches begin to appear elsewhere. Genetic factors are believed to contribute to the susceptibility to live vitiligo, the condition can be triggered by conditions other than sunburn, as viral infections and physical trauma to the skin. The disease seems to have a car, in which melanocytes (melanin-producing cells) are attacked and destroyed. Vitiligo the first time the age of 20 if it can start later.
The primary Vitiligo treatments for the past several decades has been the PUVA (psoralen and ultraviolet A). Psoralène is a chemical compound derived from herbs, especially Psoralea cordyfolia, a Chinese herb which has been used for centuries for Vitiligo treatments. There is a large group of chemical compounds, called psoralens, which have the same action (see illustration below). Ultra-violet A light in the UV spectrum which is a frequency range that causes sunburn (actually, most lotions that block the sun burn previously was designed to block the intensification of UV-B the light, but it was recently found that this is insufficient protection, so blocking UV-A is currently viewing for all new products). Psoralènes are photo-builders: they normal skin more sensitive to sunburn. The combination of psoralens and sunlight cause sunburn, a therapeutic setting, the amount of psoralen and the amount of UV-A is carefully controlled to prevent sunburn and try to rejuvenate affected malanocytes . In traditional practice, the amount of psoralen applied and the amount of UV exposure to sunlight was not controlled, and probably led to the variable responses that could be minimized by carefully observing the effects every day .
Vitiligo treatments with Psoralènes
PUVA therapy is not very satisfactory, except for small parcels, while some people respond well, most achieve only partial pigmentation and are not happy with the results (1). The therapy is disruptive, inasmuch as it should be applied May repeatedly (with office visits) for many weeks. Over-the-counter, self-applied psoralens have been designed as an alternative, while more convenient, it does not necessarily improve results. The PUVA method is most effective when vitiligo is limited to only one or two plates clearly defined, and less useful when there are multiple patches.
The Chinese medicine has been used for the Vitiligo treatments, and many combine topical treatments and the internal use of psoralea seed extract, rich in psoralens. As with PUVA, there is little success with this method. However, formulas herbal intended to treat autoimmune disorders and those aimed at improving systemic (especially certain components of blood) May have a better effect. Reports of successful Vitiligo treatments appear from time to time in the Chinese medical literature and some clinics advertise their salaries before and after pictures of successful cases. Complex patent herbal medicines and topical applications for vitiligo-made hand-psoralea extracts were produced by several factories. Some Chinese therapies offered are described in the following pages, on the basis of their presentation via Web sites, with editing to improve their clarity. After descriptions of five clinical sites (no special order), a summary of therapies and their effects is provided with descriptions found in Chinese medical texts.
